I am a self-proclaimed word nerd bred from a family of language lovers and teachers. My husband, our four-year old and I love and live in books and language. I began my career as an Intervention Specialist, spending 11 years in a Columbus Ohio public school district, working with kids K – 5.

I was trained in Orton Gillingham through the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Columbus and have my IMSLEC accreditation. After teaching with an Orton methodology for many years, I found the study of English Orthography, Etymology and Structured Word Inquiry. I flew across the country for a fun weekend of scholarship in March of 2018 and immediately dove head first into the study. Since that time I have continued to study (taking numerous courses and week-long summer studies), Douglas Harper (Creator of Eytmonline) and classes with Real Spelling.

I have taken seminars with Peter Bowers (of Wordworks Kingston) and immersed myself in the study of English with other scholars. I have witnessed the power of this work with students first hand and helped foster a love of our language within them.
